We were at this awecome place in Santa Cruz. The camp ground had about 350 acres of beautiful land! It was amazing. The theme for the Jr Highers was John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the father except through me." That might not be word for word.
Well for our first chapel with the we went on a hike up to Eagle's Landing. It was this awesome place where if it hadnt of been so foggy Saturday morning, you could see the ocean. I can't describe this place in words. That chapel was about "The way." Good object lesson huh? We had to get the kids "lost" on the way their and then one of the youth pastors found us and led us on the right path. Pretty cool stuff.
After that we went to "The Tower of Power." It was this huge tower with rock walls on the side and then a zip line. It was a blast. I loved the zip line. I attempted the rock climbing but it defeated me. It was great watching the kids get the courage to jump off the tower for the zip line.
Around 1 we left for the beach! We hung out there for about 4 hours. We had surf boards and wet suits and we were also right next to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The boardwalk is like this strech of an amusement park that runs along the beach. Pretty awesome!
I attempted to surf and failed miserably! It was horrible. I got trashed and not by the waves, the surf board! The board kept running into me when I was just standing there with it. Plus I didn't have a wetsuit on so my legs were frozen. And you know how bad it hurts when your frozen and something hits you. Everytime I fell off the board I landed on my knees in the sand. It felt like sand paper! So, I took the board back to shore and told people to keep it FAR away from me :P I cruised the boardwalk a bit with Steven and some other people from our youth group. It was fun. I got a sweet sweat shirt! It's from one of the surf shops and its sooo nice! Keeps me very warm :)
Saturday night I found out something very useful. If you get a bunch of Jr High girls together and load them up with candy, you can ask them anything you want! And they will answer truthfully with no hesitations!
The Sr High guys and Jr High guys ended up having this on going pillow fight. It was really funny. The Sr Highers would drive down (they were really far up a hill) and raid the Jr highers. They did that twice Saturday night. Evidently the Jr highers kicked butt! Then in the morning the Jr highers went up to the Sr highers cabin and kicked booty again! Hehe. At breakfast that morning we noticed that all the Sr High guys were suddenly missing. Evidently my brother (the Jr High leader) sold out his boys and gave the keys to their rooms to the Sr Highers. He told them not to touch his or the other leaders stuff. So all the Sr. Highers took the Jr Highers stuff up to their cabin, unpacked everything and put it in all the windows for people to see.
That pretty much sums it all up. We didn't do much on Friday because we got their late and Sunday was just a chill day and get ready to leave. Their was so much stuff that happened that I don't have time to go into. It was great fun though. I got totally blessed! I really do love those kids. They are amazing.
